The HISD Foundation is dedicated to the support of the Houston Independent School District and its mission of providing every student with a consistently rigorous education in a safe environment. Established in 1994, the HISD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is governed by a volunteer board of directors that includes local business, industry, and community leaders.
The Foundation works with Superintendent of Schools Millard House II, the HISD Board of Education, and Houston’s business leaders and philanthropic community to not only raise funds for the district but to provide support for teachers, students, and parents as well as to bring overall awareness to the district’s commitment to providing every student with a quality education.
The Foundation supports districtwide and school-based programs and initiatives aimed at increasing student academic achievement, eliminating the minority achievement gap, and developing and retaining effective educators in every classroom.
The Foundation believes equity, literacy, innovation, college access, and great people can help to ensure students are prepared for success in college and the workforce.
