Back to School Bonanza: The 'Back to School Bonanza is a program designed to kick off the school year with energy and enthusiasm. This event provided students and families with essential school supplies, resources, and support to ensure a successful start to the academic year. With activities, giveaways, and community engagement, the 'Back to School Bonanza' creates a positive and welcoming environment, helping students and families feel prepared and excited for the journey ahead. Library Refresh: This project focused on revitalizing school libraries to create vibrant, welcoming spaces that inspire a love of reading and learning. This project included updating book collections, modernizing technology, and redesigning library spaces to better meet the needs of today's students. By investing in our libraries, we aimed to foster a culture of literacy, curiosity, and academic excellence across the district.

Scholarship Fund: The Houston ISD Foundation works with private donors, campuses and HISD departments to raise and distribute scholarship funds to students in a competitive, transparent process that is based on a combination of need and merit. We are the perfect fit for donors seeking to provide a one-time scholarship award to graduating HISD students. We also work closely with other scholarship organizations, referring donors whose philanthropic desires might align more closely with partner organizations.

Spy Kids STEM Lunch Campaign: An innovative initiative designed to engage students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in a fun and interactive way. During these themed lunch sessions, students become 'spy kids' tasked with solving exciting STEM challenges, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. This program not only makes learning enjoyable but also sparks interest in STEM fields, encouraging students to explore and develop skills in these crucial areas. 

Miles Ahead Scholars: The Miles Ahead Scholars program is dedicated to empowering young men of color to reach their full academic and leadership potential. Through mentorship, academic support, and leadership development, this initiative aims to close achievement gaps and provide students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in school and beyond. The project’s goal is to inspire and equip scholars to be the leaders of tomorrow. There are 91 total participants. 

Career Readiness’ Girls in Industry Day 2024: This project aimed at empowering young women by exposing them to career opportunities in various industries. This event provided students with hands-on experiences, industry tours, and mentorship from female professionals, helping to inspire and equip them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue careers in fields where women are traditionally underrepresented. The program fostered a supportive environment that encourages girls to envision their future success and take bold steps toward achieving their career goals. Supported by Centerpoint Energy.

Holiday Turkey Distribution and Community Fair Event: This event provided families with holiday turkeys and essential resources, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a festive meal. Alongside the distribution, the community fair offered a variety of services, information booths, and fun activities for all ages, fostering a sense of togetherness and support. This initiative embodied the spirit of giving and strengthened the bonds within our community. Supported by UnitedHealthCare.

Energy Sustainability Campaign: This initiative focuses on educating students, staff, and the community about the importance of sustainable practices, while implementing energy-saving measures within school facilities. Through workshops, projects, and community engagement, the campaign aimed to reduce the district's carbon footprint and inspire a culture of sustainability that extends beyond the classroom. Funding supported by the Houston Dynamos. 

DYAD Travel: This program offered 7th & 8th grade students unique opportunities to expand their horizons through educational travel experiences, which included trips to significant cultural and historical destinations, such as Washington D.C. and Japan. Eligible students engage in immersive learning that broadened their understanding of the world. By connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences, the DYAD Travel program aimed to inspire curiosity, foster global awareness, and develop leadership skills in our young scholars. Supported by the Kinder Foundation. 

STEM & Coding Clubs: After-school programs designed to ignite students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Through hands-on projects, coding challenges, and collaborative activities, these clubs provided students with the opportunity to explore STEM fields in a fun and engaging environment. By fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, the 'STEM & Coding Clubs' prepared students for future success in a technology-driven world. Supported by the Astros Foundation.

Booker T. Washington Leadership Academy:  A program designed to cultivate leadership skills and academic excellence among students. Through a rigorous curriculum, mentorship, and community service opportunities, the academy empowered students to become confident leaders both in and out of the classroom. This initiative was committed to developing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make a positive impact on their communities and pursue successful futures. Supported by LyondellBassel. 

AIMS Fundraiser Event: The Houston ISD Foundation proudly partnered with the Arabic Immersion Magnet School to host a successful fundraising event. This initiative was aimed at supporting the school's efforts to secure new facilities and enhance existing ones, ensuring a better learning environment for all students.

WKF Bee Cause Project: An educational initiative aimed at raising awareness about the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. Through hands-on learning experiences, students explore the importance of pollinators and engage in activities such as beekeeping and creating bee-friendly habitats. This project not only fosters a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship but also empowered students to take action in protecting and preserving our natural world. Supported by the Whole Kids Foundation. 

Digital Literacy: This program focused on teaching students how to use digital tools effectively, safely, and responsibly. Through workshops, hands-on projects, and access to modern technology, the initiative aimed to close the digital divide, ensuring that every student is prepared for the demands of the digital age.

Art Truck Contest Scholarship: A project that celebrated student creativity and artistic talent. This program invited students to design artwork for the district’s mobile art truck, with winners receiving scholarships to support their continued education in the arts. By providing a platform for young artists to showcase their work, the contest not only fosters a love for art but also empowered students to pursue their creative passions with confidence and support.

National Mathematics Improvement Project: A nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing students' mathematical skills and achievement. This program focused on providing teachers with advanced training, resources, and innovative instructional strategies to improve math education across the district. By fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of mathematics, the project seeked to elevate student performance, close achievement gaps, and prepare students for success in STEM-related fields.

Business & Entrepreneurial Practices: (Horizion) Designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the business world. This program offered hands-on experiences in business planning, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial thinking, providing students with the tools to innovate and lead in the marketplace. By connecting students with industry professionals and real-world business challenges, the initiative prepared them to thrive in a competitive global economy.

Excellence in Teaching Awards: The 'Excellence in Teaching Awards,' is a prestigious program dedicated to recognizing and honoring outstanding educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication, creativity, and effectiveness in the classroom. This initiative celebrates teachers who go above and beyond in their commitment to student success, fostering a culture of excellence within our schools. By highlighting these educators' achievements, the program aims to inspire others and underscore the vital role that great teaching plays in shaping the future. Supported by the Kinder Foundation. 

Active Youth Collabrative: Program focused on promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among students. This initiative brought together youth from diverse backgrounds to participate in sports, fitness challenges, and wellness activities that foster a sense of community and mutual support. By encouraging active participation and collaboration, the program aimed to improve students' physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life.

CTE Scholarships (Adopt-a-School partnership): Providing financial assistance to students pursuing careers in Career and Technical Education (CTE) fields. These scholarships helped bridge the gap between education and employment, enabling students to gain the skills and certifications necessary for success in high-demand industries. By investing in CTE education, this program supported the development of a skilled workforce and empowers students to achieve their career goals. 

Career Explorers: Through this partnership with FedEx, students gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and insights into the various roles and career paths available. This program is designed to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue successful careers in different industries.

JKL Program at Chavez HS: The “Just Keep Living” program is dedicated to empowering students to lead healthier, more active lives. This program provides students with a safe space after school to engage in physical activities, learn about nutrition, and develop essential life skills. By fostering a supportive community and promoting positive lifestyle choices, the JKL Program helps students build resilience, confidence, and a strong foundation for their future success.

Monarch Heros Program: The Monarch Heroes Garden project is an environmental education program designed to engage students in hands-on learning while promoting sustainability. By creating and maintaining gardens that attract and support monarch butterflies, students gained valuable insights into ecology, conservation, and the importance of protecting our natural habitats. This initiative not only enhances the school environment but also empowers students to become stewards of the environment.

Zero Waste & Recycling Program: An initiative aimed at fostering environmental responsibility and sustainability within our schools. This program educated students, staff, and the community about the importance of reducing waste, recycling, and reusing materials. Through hands-on activities, workshops, and school-wide campaigns, the initiative encourages the adoption of eco-friendly practices, helping to create a culture of sustainability that benefits both the school community and the environment. Supported by Tricon Energy, ExxonMobil, and LyondellBasell. 

Miles Ahead Scholars: The Miles Ahead Scholars program is dedicated to empowering young men of color to reach their full academic and leadership potential. Through mentorship, academic support, and leadership development, this initiative aimed to close achievement gaps and provide students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Business Lab Collaboration for Madison, Booker T. and Yates: An innovative initiative aimed at cultivating entrepreneurial skills and business acumen among students. Through this program, students engaged in hands-on learning experiences within state-of-the-art business labs, where they developed and executed real-world business ideas. The collaboration provided mentorship from industry professionals, fostering a deeper understanding of business concepts and preparing students for future success in the competitive marketplace. Project supported by G-Unity Foundation. 

FACE Department Scholarship: The Houston ISD Foundation worked with private donors, campuses and HISD departments to raise and distribute scholarship funds to students in a competitive, transparent process that is based on a combination of need and merit. We also work closely with other scholarship organizations, referring donors whose philanthropic desires might align more closely with partner organizations. 

Career Ready Wagon: A traveling career exploration show; visiting elementary schools to bring an entertaining, interactive, and informative career experience to students in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade.

YWCPA Win4Kids": Focused on empowering young women at the Young Women's College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) through physical fitness, leadership development, and wellness education. This program encouragesd students to develop healthy habits, build confidence, and engage in activities that promote overall well-being, setting the foundation for a successful future. Supported by the Houston Astros and Chevron. 

Menstrual Health: Addressed the critical need for menstrual hygiene products and education within schools. This program ensured that students have access to necessary supplies and information, reducing stigma and supporting their health and academic performance. By providing these essential resources, this project aimed to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.

Westbury Choir: Funding that nurtured the musical talents of students at Westbury High School. This initiative provided resources for vocal training, performance opportunities, and the development of musical skills. By supporting the choir, we help foster creativity, teamwork, and a love of the arts within the student community.

MLK Day & Food Pantries: A community-focused program that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by addressing food insecurity. On MLK Day, students and volunteers come together to stock and support local food pantries, providing essential resources to families in need. This initiative reflects the spirit of service and community upliftment that Dr. King championed. Supported by UnitedHealthCare.

Feast of Sharing: H-E-B Feast of Sharing is a series of festive gatherings that serve more than 340,000 meals at 34 dinners throughout Texas and Mexico. Filled with food, music, and good cheer, these free holiday feasts are open to the public and bring together family, friends and neighbors. Launched in 1989, H-E-B Feast of Sharing gives the company an opportunity to give thanks to its loyal customers and invites everyone to our holiday dinner table. In the more than three decades H-E-B has held the celebrations, more than 375,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly four million meals. This initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger.

Digital Communication Tools: Aimed to enhance the digital literacy and communication capabilities of students and educators. This program provided access to modern communication tools and platforms, enabling more effective collaboration, learning, and engagement in the digital age. By equipping schools with these resources, we help bridge the digital divide and prepare students for future success. 

Track Maintenance at Scarborough HS: Focused on the renovation and upkeep of the school's track facilities. This initiative ensured that students had access to safe, well-maintained spaces for physical activity and athletic training. By investing in the track's maintenance, this project supported the health and well-being of the school's athletes and the broader student body.

Intergrated Voter Engagement: Dedicated to promoting civic education and voter participation among students and their families. This program offered workshops, resources, and events that encouraged informed and active participation in the democratic process. By fostering a culture of civic engagement, this project aimed to empower students to become responsible and informed citizens.

Mental Health: Provided comprehensive mental health support to students across the district. This program included access to counseling services, mental health education, and wellness resources to help students navigate the challenges they face. By prioritizing mental health, we aim to create a supportive and resilient school community where students can thrive academically and personally.

End of the Year Celebration: Brought end-of-year celebrations to 16 schools with dance parties, Nickelodeon-themed activities, and safety tips, while providing 2,500 students with educational Summer Sizzle Fun Packs. The campaign, in partnership with local organizations, aimed to keep students engaged and learning throughout the summer.

Educator of the Year Support: This program recognized and celebrated outstanding educators who make a lasting impact on their students and community. Through the 'Educator of the Year Support' initiative, educators are awarded with a monetary gift when awarded with HISD’s Educator of the Year.

Coach of the Year Support: Honors outstanding coaches who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and impact on their student-athletes. This program provided resources and recognition to these coaches, celebrating their contributions to fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in their teams.

Lunch Balance of Nine Schools: Dedicated to clearing outstanding lunch balances for students across nine schools. By addressing these financial barriers, the program ensured that every student has access to nutritious meals without the stress of unpaid balances, fostering a healthier and more focused learning environment.

Classroom Supplies for Five Teachers: Equipped educators with the essential resources they need to create engaging and effective learning environments. By providing classroom supplies to five dedicated teachers, this program helped alleviate the financial burden often placed on educators, allowing them to focus on what they do best—teaching and inspiring their students. This support enhanced the educational experience and ensured every student had access to the materials needed to succeed. 

MMS School Spark Park: This initiative enhanced Mandarin Immersion Magnet School grounds with multi-purpose parks where students can engage in physical activity, social interaction, and environmental learning. The Spark Park not only enhanced the school environment but also serves as a community resource, promoting health, wellness, and a sense of connection among neighbors. This project was supported by Sun Club.

“Let’s Go See” Career Path Mentoring Program: Through guided mentorship and hands-on experiences, students had the chance to explore various professions, understand the skills required, and connect with industry professionals. This program aimed to inspire students to envision their future careers and equip them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue their dreams. Supported by Fedex. 

Chromebooks: Supplied 500 chromebooks throughout HISD: The Chromebooks Initiative successfully supplied 500 Chromebooks to students across the district. This project aimed to bridge the digital divide by providing essential technology to students, ensuring they have the tools necessary for modern learning. Project supported by Comcast. 

Wraparound Services for Nine Feeder Schools: By providing comprehensive support that extends beyond the classroom, this program offered resources such as counseling, health services, family support, and more to ensure that students are equipped to succeed academically and personally. This holistic approach fostered a nurturing and supportive environment across nine feeder schools, helping to build stronger, healthier communities. Supported by Dr. Shao.

Just Keep Living Program: The Just Keep Livin Program empowered students to lead healthier lives through physical fitness, nutrition, and mental well-being. This after-school program offered a safe space for students to engage in physical activities, learn about healthy lifestyle choices, and build a supportive community. By fostering positive habits and resilience, the program aimed to equip students with the tools they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. 

Garden Projects: Hands-on educational programs designed to engage students in sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship. These projects allowed students to learn about plant biology, ecology, and nutrition while fostering a sense of responsibility for the environment. By transforming school grounds into vibrant gardens, the initiative enhanced the learning experience and promoted a healthier, greener community.
